Hair loss consultation Edinburgh

We understand that hair loss is often more than a physical concern. It can affect how you see yourself, your confidence, and your day-to-day wellbeing. Every consultation at our Edinburgh clinic begins with listening. There is no pressure, no rush, and no judgement.

For Every Individual

Hair Loss in Men & Women

Hair loss presents differently across genders, and our approach is tailored accordingly.

Male Hair Loss

Male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) is the most common cause of hair loss in men, often beginning at the temples or crown. We also treat stress-related shedding and alopecia in men of all ages.

  • Male pattern baldness (frontal and vertex thinning)
  • Receding hairline treatment
  • Stress-related and diffuse hair loss
  • Scalp micropigmentation for a shaved-head look
  • Hair systems for fuller coverage

Female Hair Loss

Women experience hair loss differently, often as overall thinning or a widening part rather than complete baldness. Hormonal changes, postpartum shedding, and conditions such as PCOS can all play a role.

  • Female pattern thinning and widening part
  • Postpartum hair loss support
  • Hormonal and stress-related shedding
  • Alopecia areata (patchy loss) treatment
  • Discreet options tailored to female hair patterns

Common Questions

Hair Loss Treatment FAQs

Hair loss has many causes, including genetics (androgenetic alopecia), hormonal changes, stress (telogen effluvium), autoimmune conditions (alopecia areata), nutritional deficiencies, and medical treatments such as chemotherapy. In women, postpartum changes and conditions such as PCOS are also common factors. During your consultation, we work to understand the root cause of your hair loss.
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) uses micro-injections of specialist pigment to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. For men, it creates the look of a closely shaved head. For women, it can help conceal thinning areas and add the appearance of density. It is suitable for most forms of hair loss, including alopecia, and is long-lasting with minimal maintenance.
Modern premium hair systems are designed to be completely undetectable. Using high-quality, natural-looking hair matched precisely to your colour, texture and density, they look and feel just like your own hair. You can swim, exercise and style them normally. We take great care to match each system individually to the client.
While there is currently no guaranteed cure for alopecia areata or related conditions, there are effective options for managing its appearance and restoring confidence. Scalp micropigmentation and hair systems can both be adapted for various forms of alopecia, including patchy alopecia areata and more extensive loss. We approach every alopecia case individually and sensitively.
Absolutely not. Your initial consultation is entirely without obligation. Many clients simply want to talk through their options and understand what is available to them. There is no pressure to proceed with any treatment, and we will never push you towards a decision. Take your time, and come back when, and if, you feel ready.
Scalp micropigmentation results typically last 3 to 5 years before a refresh may be needed, depending on skin type and aftercare. Hair replacement systems require maintenance appointments every 4 to 6 weeks to re-secure and care for the system. With proper care, they provide consistent, long-term results and can be a permanent lifestyle solution.
